Guy Sternberg was born in Haifa, Israel. He studied classical music at the music academy in Tel-Aviv University, where he specialized in double bass (with Gabriel Vole) and composition (Prof. Leon Schidlowsky).

Alongside his classical music studies,  Guy has begun producing electronic, pop, rock, and jazz music, first in Israel and later in Germany. 

A resident of Berlin since 1998, Guy is the founder of Berlin-based LowSwing studio and an all-analogue record label. He has recorded and produced numerous award-winning albums, including “Wunderkammer” and “Wanted and Wasted” with jazz star pianist Michael Wollny.

His album productions include internationally renowned musicians, such as Omer Klein Trio, Andreas Scholl, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Feist, Giant Sand, Train, Kraft Klub (Platinum Record), Caspar (Platinum Record), Bosse (Gold Records), Boy, Tamar Halperin, Greg Cohen, Junior Boys, Jens Lekman, Prag, Kante, Arto Lindsay, Kreidler, Bela B, Maimilian Hecker, Keane, 2Raumwohnung. 

A dangerous film is an abstract reflection of the images of falling apart film, what once was a revolutionary and dangerous propaganda material is today rotten and beaten reels of flammable material suffering from the damages of time…

VIDEO ART – A World Premier of „A Dangerous Film“ Nir Evron 

Nir Evron (b. 1974, Tel Aviv) is known for his provocative meditations on the construction of political and social histories. He works across photography, video, and film, and examines specific artifacts such as derelict monuments, historic buildings, found photographs, and borrowed biographies. Evron’s works are often hybrids, combining historical documents with medial inquiries, bringing forward the structures that shape history and the media used for its representation.

Evron has exhibited extensively worldwide. He has had solo exhibitions at The Tel Aviv Museum of Art, The ICA in Richmond, Virginia, LAXART in Los Angeles, and at the Center for Contemporary Art, Tel Aviv, among other venues. His work has been included in group exhibitions at such venues as The New Museum, New York (2015), Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin (2015), the 19th Biennale of Sydney (2014), The International Center of Photography Triennial in New York (2013), and the 6th Berlin Biennale (2010).  Evron received his BFA in photography and media from the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem and his MFA from the Slade School of Art in London. Since 2007, he has been a professor of photography and video at Bezalel.

A Dangerous Film – 16mm archival film transferred to HD video, Original Stereo Soundtrack

A new video work based entirely on the re-editing of 16mm film materials, recently discovered in Tel Aviv. The film contains several disturbing scenes documenting the activities of the Lehi paramilitary underground organisations from 1948. The Lehi – a Jewish militant group operating in Palestine from 1940 until the foundation of the state of Israel (also known as “The Stern Gang”) was a violent and active contributor to the bloodshed that swept the region. This unseen film footage was in dire condition as a result of the decomposition of its dangerous and unstable nitrate-based celluloid emulsion.  

Evron commissioned Guy Sternberg, an Israeli composer and musical producer based in Berlin, to create a new musical score that will accompany the troubling images. The music (in the form of a modern classical composition) is based on the tension between description and noise, narrative and chaos, and will follow the development of the images. This composition is to be performed live by a musical ensemble alongside a premiere screening of the work.
